New Faces and Familiar Faces
Well, it’s lovely to see things starting to get back the way they were, pre-pandemic, when Corona was a fizzy drink, not a virus, and masks were the privilege of your friendly neighbourhood bank robber and not an angry granny wielding a weapons-grade trolly in Tescos.
Almost every week, back in the day, we would see a new face turning up for a floor spot in The Feathers – a situation that appears to be returning over the past couple of weeks.
Last Thursday it was Ryan – or “The Walrus” as the Beatle-loving strummer from Blackburn, Lancashire, prefers to be known. He and his good lady were partaking of a break at Ruthin Castle when Google stepped in and pointed them in the direction of The Feathers. He entertained us with a couple of numbers from the Fab Four, and yes, “I am the Walrus” was one of them, getting the whole room joining in on the Coo Coo Ca Choos.
It was nice to see Robin the Busker back from his adventures on the canal, joining forces with his namesake Robin Spreckley and Tom Degney to take us down Copperhead Road.
Dave Ryder, too, was back in front of our microphones in grand style.
So I wonder who will turn up this week? Will it be someone visiting in person, after having joined our online lock-down shows a time or two?
A little bird tells me that might well be the case.
